Authors Luncheon

Since 2001 we have sponsored our signature literary event, the annual Authors Luncheon. Held in November at the Clubhouse at Rancho Solano, the Luncheon celebrates literacy and reading by inviting well-known and emerging authors to talk about their work. Proceeds from the Luncheon help underwrite our commitment to Reach Out and Read and other Library programs.

The Authors Luncheon attracts up to 400 literary fans that have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite authors and have them sign their books before and after they speak during luncheon program. In addition, a live auction following the program features exciting destinations and experiences that relate to the authors or their work. Some of the past authors who have participated include: Anne Lamott, Lisa See, John Lescroart, Dr. Kevin Starr; children's authors Jonathan London, Rosemary Wells and Daniel San Souci; cookbook authors Alice Medrich, Annie Roberts, Margrit Biever Mondavi, and Judy Rogers; and local authors Fern Henry and David Corbett.

The Authors Luncheon is the Solano County Library Foundation's major fundraiser. Tickets for the luncheon are available each year in mid-September.

Authors Luncheon 2011

The Solano County Library Foundation is pleased to announce two authors who will speak at Authors Luncheon 2011, on Sunday, November 6 at the Clubhouse at Rancho Solano.

Catherine Coulter is the author of 65 novels, including 59 New York Times bestsellers. She earned her reputation writing historical romances. Over a decade ago she added suspense thrillers to her repertoire-- with great success. The Cove, the first book in her bestselling "FBI Suspense Thriller Series" spent nine weeks on the New York Times list and has to date sold almost 2 million copies. This summer will see the release of the latest in the FBI series WHIPLASH.

Coulter lives with her physician husband in Marin County, California. Catherine loves to travel and ski, reads voraciously, and has a reputation for telling jokes, believing the publishing business is too crazy not to laugh.

Jo-Ann Mapson's novels include series books - Hank & Chloe; Loving Chloe; Bad Girl Creek; Along Came Mary; Goodbye, Earl, as well as stand-alone novels. Their subject matter concerns women, friendship, love, and child rearing.

Says Mapson, "Inside my novels you'll find regular people living extraordinary lives. Falling in and out of love. Raising genius children and kids who don't fit so easily in the world. Adopting dogs nobody else wants, gently tending old horses, planting flowers and vegetables and working hard for a living."

Mapson's latest work, Solomon's Oak, was published in October 2010. She resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
